Psychological Profile:

Lieutenant Witherspoon is well known for his even temper and good nature, generally getting along with just about anyone. He rarely gets visibly upset. Jess is very intelligent, enjoys his work, and is careful and attentive to details. These qualities make him an excellent second to Lieutenant McLaine. He has known her for several years, and is often able to buffer some of her more volatile tendencies.

Generally content to settle in one spot, he tends to stick with whatever he is doing unless someone else prods him or convinces him to make a change. This is the reason that he stayed with the Endeavor for most of his career so far.

Description:

Jess is a stereotypical rangy Midwesterner.

Background:

Jess had a relatively uneventful life growing up in Evanston. While an apt engineer, Jess does not consider himself an inspired one. He went to the Academy and into engineering because, well, his parents wanted him to. He found it enjoyable, and so stuck with it. He's a pretty mean bridge player for the same reason.

Lieutenant McLaine prompted him to join the group in Edinburgh, which led to his current assignment on board the Alliance. This was much to the surprise and annoyance of the Endeavor's chief engineer, who felt she ought not to have lured away one of his steadiest and most reliable staff members.

Disciplinary Notations:

None at this time.
