PERSONALITY
Beliefs That he is stained by the past and that the future is uncertain at best.
Goals & Ambitions To make a name for himself in Starfleet, redeeming himself from his family.
Dislikes Due to the circumstances surrounding his birth, Arles is not overly fond of either humans or Orions. However, he has learned that both must be tolerated in order to advance on his chosen course.
Religion None, but he is fascinated by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, who he sees as a fellow illegitimate child.
Psychological Profile Arles has never been a very happy person, but he is adept at functioning normally in social situations. As a young man he aimed for the Academy, believing that he could prove to the universe that he was no slave to his past. His parents, upon hearing of how well he performed in the Academy, have separately attempted to reconcile with him once or twice, but Arles is not overly interested.
Hobbies Arles enjoys watching various Klingon sports, but has never been good at them.
Other Information Charles Corstis goes by “Arles” due to trouble pronouncing the “ch” sound early in his childhood.

HISTORY
2358The Orion energy speculator/slaver Quend seals a lucrative business deal with a human crystal merchant named Laurence Corstis. As a gesture of “goodwill”, Quend throws into the deal his daughter Janeel, who is “forced” to marry Corstis. Before being sent off to her new husband’s home on Mars, however, Janeel determines to impregnate herself, not believing a human male capable of producing a child to her standards.
2359 Charles R. Corstis is born on Martian Colony 4 a full blooded Orion, much as his “father”, the human merchant Laurence Christopher Corstis, had suspected.
2361Regretting his marriage to so demanding and increasingly powerful a woman, and resentful of the heritage of his “son”, Laurence indicates his desire for a divorce. This begins a long and bitter feud between himself, Janeel, and Quend.
2362 Laurence Corstis has a son, Jarrod Mogile Corstis, with another woman. Janeel’s reaction ends all hope of a peaceful resolution to her marriage and quite possibly traumatizes Arles for life.
2364Arles enters kindergarten at Pacaelon Basica.
2366 After more than five years of legal wrangling and business deals, the eight-year-old Arles’ parents are divorced.
2372Janeel continues efforts to assert her power over Arles, telling him distorted details of her life with Laurence. She also tells him the truth about Jarrod Corstis. Deeply depressed over his relationship with his parents and these recent revelations, Arles seeks sanctuary in ancient Earth philosophies, especially Christianity.
2376 Arles Corstis graduates from Pacaelon Prime at the age of seventeen. Despite some problems with social situations, Arles is a well-respected student and among the top performers in his graduating class. He immediately enrolls in Starfleet Academy.
2380Upon completing his core classes at the Academy, Arles Corstis is assigned to the USS Wyvern. Jarrod Corstis graduates from Pacaelon Prime.
