Friedman is known for her desire of being in control of every situation
she possibly can be. She also enjoys being able to spend time with officers
fresh out of the Academy and mentoring them. In her free time she likes
to play sports on the holodeck, one of her favorite programs being a program
which allows her to be inserted in the old 21st century Olypmics. She also
likes to play softball, swimming, and any other sport she can get her hands
on, and loves to read any kind of medical journal she can get her hands
on. |

Cool and calm under pressure, “Doctor Kate” as many of her
fellow crew members like to call her, is not easily swayed nor is her temper
exposed. She can have a hint of a sense of humor most of the time, relating
much to her East coast roots. She is very easy going for the most part,
especially in difficult decisions. She runs her Sickbay with somewhat of
an iron fist, always on top of things and needing to be sure that she knows
everything that is going on at all times. |

HISTORY
Childhood: The only child of Admiral Timothy Friedman, one of the Assistant
Directors of Starfleet Academy in San Francisco and Laura Friedman, a housewife,
Kathryn lived a normal life with her family, but primarily with her mother since
she was around the most often. After the tragic death of her mother in childbirth
attempting to bring her twin brothers into the world, Kathryn moved to San Francisco
to live with her father. She was primarily raised by babysitters and nannies
since her father had such working hours, until he finally remarried when Kathryn
was 8 years old.
Academy: Kathryn attended grammar and high schools back in San Francisco on
Earth and graduated from there with flying colors. She was granted a commission
to attend Starfleet Academy, where she majored in command as well as the sciences.
She had few problems during her tenure at the Academy, and she also was on the
track and field team while at the Academy, becoming their number one female
distance runner while there. She still holds 3 Academy records for her work
on the team. After awhile, she decided to pursue a double major in command and
medical sciences, especially affected to do so with the memories of her mother’s
death. Kathryn graduated from Starfleet Academy with highest honors, finishing
first in class rankings, and with many offers for officer level positions on
various starships.
Service: Was granted a promotion to the rank of Full Ensign after her graduation
from Starfleet Academy and accepted the Assistant Chief Medical officer position
on the USS Briggs after graduating from the Academy, remaining on the USS Briggs
for three years, where she was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and made the
Chief Medical Officer on the USS Briggs. Deciding to have a change of pace,
she was offered a transfer to the USS Galaxy, and was appointed her Chief Medical
Officer effective immediately.
